Before we got on the program with 101 Financial, both Gwenda and I had two jobs each. We accumulated our second jobs thinking that more money would solve our financial problems. It did for the most part but, it took a toll on our relationship. We hardly saw each other, never enough sleep, and the quality of life was not pleasant. After about two years of doing this, we still did not have anything to show for our hard work. We were still $20,000 in debt, and life was stressful.
After being introduced to the program, we felt a great burden off our shoulders. We were able to pay off our $20,000 debt in just 4 months. We were so happy with what we were able to do in 4 months.
After we were debt free we had to move away for a job opportunity in Honolulu. When we got to our new home, we got back to our old habits, lost touch with our instructor, and fell off the program. 3 years went by and we found ourselves back at where we were before 101 Financial. $25,000 in debt and feeling super guilty. I was ashamed to call my instructor but I did because I had no other choice. My instructor was so kind that he referred us to Shantell Otare who put back the fire in us and making us believe in ourselves and the program. After meeting with her, we were able to pay off our $25,000 debt in 5 months. At that moment, we realized how powerful the program is and what the knowledge we gained can help us in our future. We've never thought in our wildest dreams that we would own our own home in Hawaii but at that point it became a possibility. We purchased our very 1st home in December 2014. Now, that property has been our rental property since we moved again in 2017. Its unbelievable
that we were able to make a huge transition in just a couple months. From being $25,000 down to owning our first home.
The greatest test came at the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017. December 31st, 2016 my contract with the Army ended. I was a reservist on active duty orders and it had to end. For the next 5 months, I was jobless! There was no income coming into our household. I had a mortgage, bills, and, expenses. My wife had to stop working due to medical complications. It was scary because I have never been in that position before, but the knowledge we learned kept us afloat. In that 5 months, we never missed a single payment on the mortgage, the bills, or anything important. That 5 months made us believe in the gift of 101 Financial even more and trusting what it can do for us. Without the knowledge, we would have our house foreclosed and we would never make it out of it. I am so thankful to Alan Akina for sharing 101 Financial through the gift of knowledge, Shantell Otare for guiding us through everything. We have shared the program with family and friends who are also doing great with the knowledge. We continue to live it and share it.
